#collectivio Off To A Good Start At IAA 2017

Over 200 ideas collected from the public

Day 1  Right at the beginning of the IAA 2017 Motor Show in Frankfurt, the first LIVE engineering project in history went off with a bang. Our six EDAG specialists from the areas of design, automobile architecture, HMI, app development, business cases and VR have begun to develop the visionary #collectivio mobility concept. But what should a fleet of self-driving electric cars look like? How will we communicate with cars in the future? How will the car communicate with us? Will it be via gesture or voice control? What types of potential for future business ideas are opened up with the implementation of #collectivio approach?

The EDAG scrum team will answer these and other questions in the following days of the trade fair. The engineering geniuses already had some ideas in mind and brought them to Frankfurt with them. But for this radically new mobility approach, we also opened up the project to public input. Over 200 ideas and suggestions were received up until this afternoon. The first result that the scrum team discovered: For travel with #collectivio, the majority of people want seats instead of standing places - on average 4 seats.

The desire for voice and gesture control is also a clearly recognisable trend on Day 1 of the project. These are valuable indicators that the Design and Package team can take on board in the first drafts. Three design drafts were already finished by late afternoon. Our scrum team is publishing these drafts on our EDAG Facebook page for our Facebook community to vote on. The design can significantly influence the appeal of #collectivio to users, alongside functionality. "We want to include the community in this important decision process," explains Johannes Barckmann, Product Owner in the #collectivio project. "After all, mobility affects us all."

Tomorrow, Day 2 of the Live Engineering Project will begin. We invite all IAA visitors tomorrow on September 13 2017 to our stand B04 in Hall 5.1 at 12:00pm to participate in the EDAG live press conference.
