Towers and foundations ensure the safe anchoring of the wind turbine in the ground as well as the operation of the rotor at a height, low turbulence and high wind speeds. The extremely high demands on the wind energy plants in both aerodynamics and tower head weight place extreme weight on the requirements for the construction of towers and foundations of wind energy plants. Transport restrictions concerning diameter and weight also limit the design possibilities of the development engineers and cause very ambitious specifications for a compenent that is otherwise quite straight forward. As the costs for the tower are more than 20% of the complete costs, the weight and cost optimised construction have special significance.
EDAG Wind offer unique expertise and 15 years of experience in the weight and cost optimised design of WEA towers. Based on the lightweight expertise for aircraft body structures the engineers from our Aerospace division developed lighter and therefore more economic towers using calculation methods derived from the aircraft industry. Our in-house software tool Turmsys® has been continuously developed and even today is still the basis of the tower calculations for weight reduction.
We combine your towers according to the local specifications with the foundation components or foundations with anchor rock bolts as normal spread foundations or pile foundations.
