EDAG BestFit allows an automated best positioning of parts to be assembled.
|
Sensors pick up an image of the parts to be assembled and ascertain information regarding gap and flushness. A complex algorithm calculates one command for positioning of the actuators, e.g. robots. The parts can be assembled. After assembly, the sensors pick up the results. 100% quality documentation by means of protocol. Influences during assembly, e.g. settling due to tightening of bolts, will be recognized and evaluated for the next correction calculation (automatic, self-learning system). |
EDAG BestFit special features
EDAG's BesFit system calculates the best-fit position of a component to the body. The best-fit position is determined by taking into account the individual tolerances of both parts (e.g. door and side panel) in accordance with the target settings (target gap, target intersection, weighting) for each measuring point.
The EDAG BestFit algorithm works out the tolerances - unlike with ar 3-2-1 definition. For instance, a door which is 1 mm "too small" in Z would then be arranged in Z in such a way that, with the weighting being kept balanced, the gaps at the roof and the door sill would each be 0.5 mm larger.
The weighting allows tolerances to be "shifted" to areas where they will be less obvious. E.g. with greater weighting being attached to the gap at the B-pillar and roof, lower to the door sill gap - or high weighting of the tornado line, reduced weighting of the sill area.
What we have here is a very simple, overridable system (more sensors are used than with 3-2-1), in which only target gap, target intersection and weighting need to be input. Further sensors can be integrated with no difficulty, even during the production process.
Control function
The control function makes it possible that the real time pre-positioning can be adjusted to the actual tolerances of the previous 50 parts. Corrective movements are thus reduced to a minimum at pre-positioning.
