Vision system for quality control during rollerhemming

Our Vision Team together with the rollerhemming experts, now have found a possibility to monitor and control the rollerhemming process online.
Using a camera pictures are taken of the sealed flange. These pictures are then computer analysed. The results of the analysis are stored in a databank with the relevant picture and geometric data.
It is possible to monitor the results of the hemm and glue process online. The reaction time in the case of maloperation can be reduced considerably.

In order to analyse the recognised flange on the pictures the following features are measured:

  • Glue width and height
  • Drop width and height

The Measurement accuracy lies between +- 0,2 mm for drop width, height and glue height
and +- 0,4 mm glue width.

The accuracy depends on lighting conditions as well as the feature significance.

The analysis of further features e.g. glue play/clearance is possible.
